Broccoli With Onion Cheese Sauce

Ingredients
- 3 lbs fresh broccoli, cut into bite-sized flowerets
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cups chopped onions
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 1/2 cups evaporated milk (or whole milk)
- 1 cup shredded monterey jack cheese or 1 cup cheddar cheese
- 1/4-1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Directions
- 1 Steam broccoli until crisp-tender. Drain well. Place broccoli in shallow serving dish.
- 2 While broccoli is cooking, melt butter in medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and cook until tender, about 8 minutes.
- 3 Stir in flour. Add milk; cook and stir until sauce comes to a boil for several minutes.
- 4 Stir in cheese until it melts; add salt, pepper and garlic powder.
- 5 Pour over hot broccoli and serve.
